Transit Sales Specialist


Under the direction of the Sales Manager, the Transit Sales Specialist is responsible for selling company products, serving and retaining current customers, developing and securing new customers, and investigating potential new product uses or applications. This is accomplished through research, planning and extensive interaction with existing and prospective customers. The Technical Sales Manager will be based out of AROW Global’s head offices in Mosinee, WI, and must be able to accommodate up to 50% travel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Meet with existing and prospective customers to develop, create and maintain interpersonal relationships while supporting account maintenance and discovering new sales opportunities.
  2. Prepare and deliver (via email or in-person) formal product presentations for customers.
  3. Provide product demos to qualified customers on request. Utilize the opportunity to emphasize saleable features and sell prospective customers on AROW products that best suit their needs.
  4. Ensure that existing customers remain familiarized with new products and services.
  5. Perform field promotional work to secure new customers (including new territories, new industries, or additional sales with customers where full market potential or product line acceptance has not been established).
  6. Coordinate and assist with the services of the AROW Global’s engineering staff to determine customers’ needs and preparation of product samples as needed.
  7. Coordinate and attend customer training sessions as required.
  8. Assist with preparations for trade shows.
  9. Attend trade shows to represent AROW Global and/or to perform market research.
  10. Work with AROW’s marketing team to keep account activities and literature up to date.
  11. Assist in the development of new and/or specialty products by providing insight into factors such as market potential, industry feedback, fit with AROW’s core competencies, and risk assessments.
  12. Provide support for obtained orders by identifying challenges that prevent projects from moving forward, and work to facilitate their resolution both internally and externally.
  13. Work with existing and prospective customers to overcome technical and business objections.
  14. Investigate and resolve customer requests for expedites and problems with deliveries.
  15. Estimate dates of delivery to customer, based on knowledge of internal production capacity and delivery schedules.
  16. Investigate and expedite product claims and complaints in accordance with company policies, and assist in resolving problems and recommending corrective action.
  17. Keep the company informed on competitive products, promotional materials, sales techniques, pricing and market policies.
  18. Prepare and submit periodic reports on activities, sales volume, expenses, etc.
  19. Prepare sales forecasts and budgets for company review.
  20. Maintain list of prospective customers and opportunities based on information from inquiries, trade shows, and other sources.

Education and/or Experience Qualifications

Education from a Technical college or University. Specific related experience in lieu of a degree will be considered. Previous sales, customer service and/or marketing experience is desired, but not essential, as otherwise qualified candidates will be trained for success in this role. Key qualifications include:

  • Exceptional customer focus and ability to work under pressure while seeking to meet the needs and wants of the customer without being prompted.
  • Proficiency in making travel arrangements in accordance company policies.
  • Basic knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
  • Proven ability to be self-driven and work well without supervision.
  • Must be able to stay current with communications while on business travel.
  • Strong verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficient computer skills including MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel)
