Second Shift Production Lead

Under the direction of the Production Supervisor, the 2nd Shift Lead Person oversees the production-flow and schedule outlined by the Production Supervisor of AROW product being produced in either Assembly or Fabrication. The Lead person accomplishes this through execution of Essential Duties and Responsibilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.

  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment. Instruct and monitor production employees’ work practices and conformance with procedures.
  • Provides guidance/direction to the Coordinator(s).
  • Pre-shift meeting with Production Supervisor to establish work schedule and placement of Team Members.
  • Communicates with Production Supervisor through verbal or written communication any deviations to the daily plan and any concerns related to safety, quality, machines, processes, material, etc. on a daily basis. This will also aide with clean shift hand-offs.
  • Active participation in Daily Turnover meetings during daily designated times.
  • Participate in daily Tool Box Talks, Lead Dept. stretches, and facilitate daily shift start meetings.
  • Perform Quality Checks throughout each shift.
  • Performing direct and/or indirect work activities (primary and secondary operations, material handling, etc. as needed).
  • Ensure the adequate levels of materials and/or consumables availably – order or re-supply as needed.
  • Assure compliance with quality standards throughout all production operations.
  • Be a resource to Team Members with trouble shooting and ability to read/understand/explain technical drawings, reports and work instructions.
  • Training: Be involved/aware of New hire Training, assist Trainers and review weekly training progress. Working with the Supervisor, ensure employees are trained / qualified – and with the Supervisor make final decision(s) in regards to completion of training and/or more training needed.Through collaboration with the Supervisor, identify training needs and participate/advise in cross training needs and efforts.
  • Perform basic equipment and process failure analysis and act accordingly
  • Assist with manpower planning.
  • Ensure daily production targets and customer delivery requirements are met
  • Participate in continuing improvement projects, 5S and lean manufacturing initiatives.\
  • Resolve production and quality problems by working with the appropriate departments.
  • Ensure all documentation is filled in consistently, correctly and accurately.
  • Motivate employees through involvement, communication and positive reinforcement.

Position Requirement: Education and/or Experience

Education generally equivalent to a High School degree. Technical degree a plus. Ideally 3-5 years manufacturing experience, with ideally 1-2 years in a Leader role.

  • Demonstrated leadership qualities sufficient to provide supervisory backup and ability to lead team with a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Experience with MRP strongly desired.

  • Basic reading, writing, math, technical blue print and work instruction reading skills.
  • Understanding of production schedules, demand and delivery.
  • Computer proficient
  • Drive a forklift or follow training to obtain forklift license.
